鈥淐ome one, come all鈥� is the message of Johnnie Week, inviting alumni and families to return to either or both campuses, or reconnect with St. John鈥檚 through a week of virtual programming.
The Elizabeth Myers Mitchell Art Museum will reopen to the public on February 17. The museum closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the past three years has offered online-programming while the surrounding space underwent renovations. The newly renamed Mitchell Art Museum, previously known as the Mitchell Gallery, is the only art museum in Anne Arundel County accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, and one of only five to be accredited in the state of Maryland.
Rick Plaut (A77) and Carol Plaut (A79) met as St. John鈥檚 undergrads and remain dedicated alumni. Their longstanding involvement with the college is multifaceted, with the Annapolis intramural program remaining especially dear to their hearts. Their daughter, Emma (A07), is also a Johnnie.
For the past six years, Lisa Rosenblum (A80) has been the executive director of the King County Library System in Washington state. With a budget of $140 million and 50 branches funded by its own taxing district, she runs one of the biggest systems in the nation.
The bell of St. John鈥檚 College鈥檚 McDowell Hall will ring overnight Saturday into Sunday, February 5, between midnight and 1:30 a.m., as more than 100 students at the third oldest college in the country continue an annual tradition that marks a senior rite of passage.
