When Simran Thapa (SF22) heard about the University of Texas at Austin's McCombs National Women's Case Competition, she knew wanted to find a way to participate.
I think that鈥檚 a St. John鈥檚 trait鈥攖hat you never stop learning and that there are always things that you can learn from. I always tell folks that the greatest lesson that I got from my St. John鈥檚 experience is there鈥檚 nothing I can鈥檛 think about.
鈥淚 love taking apart things that aren鈥檛 working and putting them back together again,鈥� says Phelosha Collaros (SF00). Since becoming the St. John鈥檚 College Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations in 2016, she has done exactly that: revamping two collegewide departments and creating another from scratch, all while staff and budgets were being downsized.
In 1952, W. E. B. Du Bois delivered an historic lecture at St. John鈥檚 College in Annapolis. This month, both campuses commemorated the 70th anniversary of this important event by holding all-college seminars on the speech that he gave. Du Bois is the only author to lecture at the college who is also a mainstay of the college鈥檚 reading list.
